So I was a huge advacate of DP getting all three formats, because almost all the time plugins don't have problems in DAWs because of the actual code that makes them a compressor, Chorus, Sampler etc. Can plugins even be universal 2 binaries?

VST for MIDI out instruments, VST3 for MIDI out instruments that are VST3 only.ДЇL Studio is native, but it can bridge to rosetta 2 plugins, I assume it used the native Hive, but I'm not sure how to tell if the plugin is bridged or not.

So I install mostly AU at this time, because it's a stable format, it's built with M1 Macs in mind. VST3 is the only format that's hard crashed Reaper and hung Bitwig here, it's also crashed Live and DP. sequencers, arps and any of that does not come out of an AU. Some Instruments come in only AU and VST3, but AU at the moment does not transmit MIDI from a AU instrument, i.e. I completely understand wanting to future proof by adopting VST 3 and I tried using it at first, but at this point I just take the hit and instal all three formats for this reason. OK do not take this the wrong way, but VST3 is a joke it's been and issue forever, 15 years later and it's still not 100% adopted, NI among others do not have VST3 across their line up. there aren't many left though and then I run into this issue.

DP at the moment seems like the one, but then, I've said that several times now about other DAWs. I have gone through many DAWs trying to find the one that is right for me. Its what I'm hoping I'll get with chunks that is making me persist, so far. It's late and I'm frustrated, but I wanted to get a record of what I did written down somewhere. Do I have to go and manually re-enable any that are like this? I would have thought it would have left enabled any VST3s (and/or AUs?) that there wasn't also a VST2 of. If I weren't super-excited about chunks, which I have yet to explore, I might have given up at this point.ДЄlso, I tried changing my primary format to VST2, but it seems all this does is disable all the VST3s (and calling them non-primary) and enable all the VST2s. I also have a few plugins that only exist in VST3 form, so I'm concerned there. It seems if I do go with DP, I'm going to have to stick with VST2, and hope VST3 gets fixed. That was the point at which I then started experimenting first with Rosetta 2, and then installing the VST2 version of Hive. I don't know if diva was actually working though as DP crashed after switching back and forth between effects a couple of times.

This was also the case with proper effects, I was starting to panic over this, until I tried adding a MAS instrument, and then all the effects windows started working properly, including the Diva one. in particular, no GUI for the plugins is shown, only a too-small header from DP. I tried loading hive and diva as an effect to see what would happen, and discovered that things don't go well when you have an instrument track that has effects, but no instrument. I tried force-enabling hive, which didn't work (but maybe because its also not being recognized as an instrument).

I've got a few Melda plugs that didn't validate, and interestingly (as I believe this came with DP) UVIWorkstationVST (and this one is a VST2 is this one because of pace?) So is the solution to just pretend VST3 doesn't exist, and stick with VST2 (which I'd really prefer not to have to do)?

(this was mainly because I realized after initlally verifying that it was working, I was using the rosetta 2 reaper and had to redo it with native reaper). In reaper's case, I tried both native and Rosetta 2 (and both work). Hive loads and works fine as a VST3 in both Reaper, and FL Studio. In my case, u-he Hive and Twangstrom both 'Crashed examination process' (and it sticks on hive for several minutes before moving on), The other u-he plugins pass, however none of them show up as instruments when I try to 'add instrument track'. Searching around these forums it does seem like there is a general VST3 issue and has been for quite a while, though I've had to piece this together as there doesn't seem to be a thread specifically about this (or my searching didn't work very well). I've generally only installed the VST3 versions of plugins, when that's an option.
